Cupcake Cutie: Sweet Black & White Outfit of the Day

Yesterday I met some of my favorite girlfriends for lunch in Orange County. The weather here in Southern California has been perfect lately. Not too hot, not too cold. It really doesn't feel like Fall at all. So I really wanted to take advantage of this beautiful weather and get some more use out of my outfits that I will soon be swapping out for jackets and sweaters.

I thought this cute little black and white outfit was perfect. I've really been crushing on the classic combo of black and white lately and apparently so have my friends! We all showed up in black and white outfits and died laughing. I had texted everyone that morning with, "So what are you wearing", and no one responded but by our outfits you could have sworn that we coordinated.

Great Minds Think Alike

After lunch we treated ourselves to Starbucks and Casey's Cupcakes. I'm so addicted to Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Latte! I've been drinking it blended instead of hot because it just does not taste right hot when it is 80 degrees out. Starbucks and cupcakes together was bit overkill in the sugar department but we walked off plenty of calories shopping!

Shopping is my Cardio

Nike Barbie

Nike Dunk Sky Hi Wedge Sneaker
I got mine from Nordstom's. I don't see this color option online at the moment but they do have several different color combos available or you could call the store to see if they have this barbie pink Nike in stock.

It is not very often that you will find me in sneakers... but these Hot Pink Nike Dunk Ski Hi Sneaker Wedges had my name written all over them! Well not literally of course but these bad boys are in my favorite shade of pink and feature a hidden wedge platform. Score! If Barbie were to create an athletic shoe I can only imagine that it would look like this.

This outfit features a whole lot of pink. I have worn these shoes several times since I shot these pics and I have found that I prefer them worn with less pink. I have a purse that matches almost exactly so I opt to carry that to tie in my pop of color while I tone down my outfit. I love these Nike Sky Hi Sneaker Wedges with anything from shorts to skinny jeans or a casual A-line skirt and white tank top.
If your are thinking of purchasing a pair of Nike Sky Hi Wedge Sneakers for the first time keep in mind that they do run a little narrow. I have a rather wide foot which makes these shoes a little uncomfortable. I didn't notice this in the store. They don't bother me unless I wear them for an extended amount of time. Hopefully they will break in and stretch out some.
I'm thinking of trying out the freezer trick. Has anyone tried this? You fill a baggy up with water and place it into your shoe. Then you put your shoe in the freezer. When the water freezes it expands and gently stretches your shoe. This sounds great in theory but I keep picturing the water somehow exploding and ruining my pretty shoes. *gasp* Maybe I'll try it on an older pair of shoes first. ;)

My Fair Lady: Casual Chic OOTD

Every year I look forward to the County Fair. The food, the rides, the games, the lights... it all makes me feel like a kid again. I love the bright and bold colors that are everywhere you look and the mixture of noises and smells that fill the air.

I did my best to put together an outfit that was cute but comfortable and easy to walk around in all day. High-waisted shorts (and swimwear) are my latest fashion obsession! At first, I wasn't sure about this trend. High-waisted shorts reminded me of "mom shorts" but I quickly got over that and this hip 90's trend grew on me even quicker for many reasons.

First of all, high-waisted shorts do wonders for the figure. They emphasize your real waist, the smallest part of your torso, which has long been lost with low-rise everything! Since these shorts hit at your real waist they also help define your curves and give off a more hourglass silhouette. What's even better is that they make the booty look phenomenal. My main issue with high-waisted shorts is that some girls don't wear them correctly, giving this flattering trend an unflattering reputation.

When shopping for high-waisted shorts you really need to focus on the fit. You want them to fit snug, this will make your waist look smaller and lift your backside better. However, you do not want the shorts to be so snug that you can not breathe or even worse that you are spilling out of them. If your shorts do not cover your butt cheeks-they are too short! It's not rocket science, just common sense and decency. Keep in mind that high-waisted shorts do have the tendency to ride up so opt for a bigger size if you're not sure.

I got my high-waisted shorts here and I purchased a medium for peace of mind and comfort.

I hand made the Red Rose Flower Crown and I sell them on my site: ImHaute.com
Flower crowns are my fave hair accessory at the moment. they are so boho chic and perfect for taming locks on windy days. While you might think this is strictly a Spring & Summer accessory I believe you will be seeing flower crowns in rich bold and dark colors carry through Fall & Winter.

Aztec Shirt Dress OOTD

Menswear always seems to peek its way into women's fashion trends year after year, especially during Fall. This season we are seeing even more masculine elements on women's clothing. By far the easiest Menswear item to pull off is the shirt dress. The shirt dress has evolved from the "walk of shame" days of sneaking out of your boyrfriend's apartment wearing his over-sized dress shirt with your club dress in one hand, high-heels in the other and your dignity no where to be found. Modern shirt dresses have the same concept as a men's dress shirt but offer much more sophistication and details

I fell instantly in love with this Aztec Print Shirt Dress for so many reasons. For one, it is effortlessly chic. There is no need to fuss over accessories because this dress is amazing enough to stand on it's own. Sure, a long necklace or a watch might be nice but the print is so busy it doesn't really need much. Speaking of the print- the contrast pocket and cuffs takes the guess work out of mixing prints. Mixing prints is super trendy at the moment but not everyone is comfortable trying it on their own. I have dabbled a tiny bit in mixing prints and after wearing this pretty Aztec print shirt dress I think I may have to venture out of my comfort zone a bit more often.

A fedora is a great way to finish off an outfit without being weighed down by accessories. Fedora hats are one of the most flattering hats out there, making them a great beginner option for those who don't normally wear hats. A fedora is also a very classic style that is timeless and a celebrity favorite. Throw on some over-sized sunglasses and -pow- you've got yourself a "who's that girl?" outfit!

Motel Rocks White Playsuit

Like I mentioned in a previous post, I haven't been much of a romper or playsuit kinda of person until lately. I feel like this style has come a long way and I find myself more and more attracted to playsuits in chic fabrics.

The Motel Mary Open Back Playsuit in White Geometric Lace is definitely chic. I absolutely love the texture of the fabric they used. Typical french lace would be too sexy for this silhouette and it would also make it difficult to wear during the daytime. As it is, this playsuit is perfect for day to night wear and can easily be dressed up or down given the shoes you decide to wear. Gladiator sandals would make this open back playsuit casual enough for running errands. Throw on stilettos instead and you have yourself a fabulous little ensemble to grab a drink with the girls.
I wore a long necklace because sometimes playsuits can shorten your frame. The long necklace keeps the eye moving in an up and down motion which helps elongate your silhouette.

I wore the only white pair of heels that I had in my suitcase. They are by Quipid and I have had them for years. They are a bit stretched out now but still comfortable. When these shoes were newer I swear I probably could have run a mile in them. Thinking about this outfit now, I would prefer it paired with my nude gladiator sandals that I got from Wet Seal for $4. Nude shoes are fabulous. Even nude sandals help elongate your legs.

The back of this white lace playsuit is the entire reason why I bought it in the first place. I'm a huge fan of open back styles. Showing off your back is extremely sexy and it's not as racy as cleavage spilling out of your top. A good rule of thumb is to only expose one of these head turning body parts at a time. The high neckline keeps this playsuit cute and fashionable.

Chevron Print Dress Carnival Outfit

I absolutely love carnivals and fairs! I love how all the flashing lights, bright colors and commotion takes over and sucks you in. It is hard to worry about the pressure of the real world from the happy-go-lucky vibe of a carnival. My mint & white chevron print peplum dress makes me feel the same way; happy and colorful!
I must admit that the white heels were not the most practical option of carnival attire but I thought they looked pretty. I would also like to add that I had no plans on going to a carnival but when I stumbled across it I couldn't pass up the opportunity to chow down on some popcorn and play some games.

The Romper that Made Me WANT to Wear a Romper!

Say Hello to the Bradshaw Romper from I'm Haute.
Isn't it marvelous?!

This gorgeous coral chiffon romper has completely changed my outlook on the fashionability of rompers. Until lately, most of the rompers I saw looked like cute but juvenile onesies that babies crawled around in. That vision completely turned me off to all rompers in general. I never even gave them a glance in the store or dreamed that I would one day fall in love with such a garment. That is until I stumbled across the most chic and fashionable romper ever made!

Can you tell I am completely obsessed with this beautiful coral chiffon romper?!
It's so perfect that it doesn't even need much accessorizing. You could easily slip into the Bradshaw Romper, throw on your favorite shoes and go!

I chose to wear matching coral wedges to keep this look cute and playful. These wedges are beyond comfortable! The sole is super squishy and feels great on my feet. I love wearing heels and wedges but the older I get the more I care about comfort, so these coral wedges are a win, win!
I also decided to wear my favorite circle shaped sunglasses. Circle sunglasses have been all the rage this summer and this trend will carry through fall as well. I love the vintage glam that circle sunglasses evoke. I often prefer glasses with metal or tortoise frames because I feel like it less harsh against my light skin tone and blonde hair.
The only jewelry that I am wearing, besides my two rings that I always wear (my wedding ring and pave ring), is my simple gold chain necklace from Chanel with the iconic interlocking C logo pendants dangling from the center. I absolutely love this necklace. It has adjustable length and is just chic and dainty enough to match with everything.

Haute, Haute Haute!!
