PMD Personal Microderm Review

Hi everyone, today's post is not fashion related but it is a topic very dear to my heart: Acne. I have been battling acne for about ten years. My constant breakouts and acne scars have really taken a toll on my self-esteem and I find myself struggling to find products that help. About a month ago I received the PMD Personal Microderm in the mail  to review for my Youtube Channel and let me tell you, it is amazing!

I have literally tried everything to get rid of my acne and to treat my acne scars. In my past ten years of battling with acne I have had laser treatment after laser treatment, chemical peels, painful extractions, bi-monthly microdermabrasion treatments and I even tried tons of drugs and topical creams prescribed by three different Dermatologists. Some of these treatments worked while others failed miserably. I did notice a great improvement in my acne and scars when I was getting regular microdermabrasion treatments but this slowly drained my bank account. I tried to find a local esthetician that would work with me on price but even then it was costly and scheduling was always an issue. I never imagined that I could get the same results from home for the price of 1-2 professional treatments.

The PMD Personal Microderm is one of those products that once you try it you with think, "How did I ever live without this?" It may sound cliche but it is so true. My skin feels and looks better than it has in years. I can now give myself microdermabrasion treatments at home on my schedule. I'm over-joyed with this product. Below are the results I experienced from using my PMD a mere three times. I can only imagine how great I will be feeling about my skin down the road.

Instantly Softer Skin.
Right after using the PMD my skin felt energized and so so smooth. I was blown away by how soft my face felt to the touch. I finally felt like my skin was "glowing".

Shorter Breakouts.
I noticed that after using the PMD the acne that I did have cleared up quicker than normal.

Treat Acne Scars
If you are dealing with acne scars then you understand when I say that some days all you can focus on are those pot holes on your face while other days you don't notice the scars as much and you can feel an ounce of hope. These past three weeks of using my PMD I have noticed that my scars are not bugging me as much as they normally do. Which has given me hope for my acne scars and I have even caught myself smiling at my skin in the mirror.

Monday Chic Outfit of the Day

Happy Monday everyone! Here is my outfit that I wore last Monday in New Orleans. Quite a few strangers complimented me on this look so I am over joyed to share it with you. Isn't that one of the best feelings when a total stranger stops you to say something nice?! I try to remember to do this when I'm out because happiness is contagious. The more happiness you spread the happier you will feel. The weather in New Orleans was absolutely perfect for this maxi skirt and crop top outfit. To add to my wonderful Monday, my twelve dollar leopard print heels were remarkably comfortable.

Our New Orleans Getaway

My hubby took me to my first Clippers basketball game when we started dating about five years ago. I was instantly hooked and have been following and learning more about the sport ever since. We go to as many games as possible and we were both dying to go to the NBA All-Star 2014 weekend in New Orleans. Luckily a family member was able to pull a few strings with a friend of his and snag us some sold-out tickets. I literally was jumping for joy! We booked what seemed to be the last available ticket to New Orleans, packed our bags and had an amazing little getaway together. I hope you guys enjoy some of our personal photos around the city.

I am quite possibly the worst ever at packing for trips! I always have this romantic notion in my mind that I am going to dress up every single day of my vacation and then my feet are killing me half way through or I am freezing because I didn't anticipate how cold 63 degrees feels like with a wind chill factor. Luckily, New Orleans was very hospitable with the weather and located on almost every block you will find an Asian foot massage spa. We pampered our feet to the fairly priced massage twice during our short trip and I was able to wear heels everyday without crying. So even though my team lost in the All-Star Game I felt like a winner.

The above outfit is a casual chic baseball sleeve midi-dress that I found on sale at Forever 21. It is featured in my latest Mall Haul video here. I warmed it up with my favorite fuzzy infinity scarf that I've had for years. The scarf doubled as a wrap for when I was chilly from the blasting A/C in the New Orleans Arena. My shoes are from Go Jane and my bag is Christian Louboutin.

For the actual NBA All-Star game I wore this sexy two-piece set from I'm Haute. These bare midriff outfit sets are a celeb favorite lately and I must admit that I'm rather obsessed with them! They are a killer combo of sophistication meets sexy. Since we were planning on going out to dinner after the game I naturally wanted to be all dolled up and I couldn't wait to wear this sassy little number! I paired it with my nude ankle strap high heels from Go Jane and my black and nude jacket from She Inside.

Earlier that afternoon we did some walking around in the French Quarter. We came across the Adidas pop up social media spot aka #adidasintheQuarter. Sports retailers had pop up shops all over town to capitalize on all the fans in town for the NBA All-Star weekend but this was different. This location wasn't actually selling anything. Instead they were offering a free experience in hopes of generating a social media buzz. The setup was rather impressive. They had a DJ spinning the top hip-hop jams, Adidas All-Star Jerseys to borrow, a huge mesmerizing light wall which would display your team of choice and a photographer snapping away free pics to be emailed to you almost instantaneously. Overall the experience probably took five to ten minutes out of our day and we have some pretty cool pictures to show from it. Thanks Adidas!

After our impromptu Adidas photo shoot we decided to reward ourselves with a piece of heaven from the famous Cafe Du Monde. Listen to me when I say, Cafe Du Monde is a must for anyone visiting New Orleans. They opened in 1862 and have been going strong for 24 hours a day ever since. You'll only find them closed for the occasional hurricane or on Christmas Day. Cafe Du Monde has a very limited menu but don't be alarmed. They know what they are good at and they have perfected it.

The only food on the menu: Beignets.
Beignets are described as French doughnuts but I would describe them as a doughnut and funnel cake falling madly in love and having a perfectly fluffy, yet ever so slightly crunchy, melt in your mouth love child. These pillowy pastries of perfection are fried and then covered (and I do mean covered) in powdered sugar. My mouth is seriously watering just thinking about these special treats.

My outfit for walking around during the day in New Orleans was pretty casual. I wore a loose fit plain white T-shirt with my shredded Machine Jeans. I rolled up the bottoms of my jeans to showcase my blue suede Dolce Vita booties that match my indigo blue Celine Mini Luggage Bag. I finished my look off with some circle sunnies and a long necklace from I'm Haute.

Unbeknownst to us, the first parade of Mardi Gras was the day we arrived in New Orleans. The town was covered in colorful decorations and beads were everywhere you looked. Seriously, beads were stuck in trees, hanging from balconies and all over the streets. I was super excited because going to Mardi Gras was on my bucket list. Even though this was New Orleans' smallest Mardi Gras parade I am happy to check that off my list. I'm not sure if I could handle a busier Mardi Gras celebration because this one seemed insane enough to me. We tried walking down Bourbon St which was a completely over crowded mess. Literally everyone was pushing into everyone and it took a good ten minutes just to walk a block. I'm glad I can say that I've been there, done that but I doubt I'll ever intentionally plan a trip to New Orleans just for Mardi Gras.

New Orleans has so much more to offer than just the craziness of Mardi Gras. Besides all of the stunning architecture and mind blowing history, the city is bursting with culinary adventures. Every single meal that we ate was mouth watering delicious and memorable. The above picture is from our belated Valentine's dinner at Restaurant R'evolution. When my hubby and I travel we like to enjoy at least one nice dinner together and Restaurant R'evelotion surely delivered. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and I found a new favorite wine: Domaine Bertagna, Pinot Noir, 2010. The coolest part of dinner here is the complimentary dessert that is served in an ornate jewelry box. Each drawer of the box contains a different chocolate or cookie. So cute!

For casual dinning I recommend The Ruby Slipper Cafe. We popped in here for brunch and my taste buds with never be the same. I can't stop thinking about their Eggs Blackstone dish which is like a southern take on Eggs Benedict. My favorite spot for lunch was Meals from the Heart Cafe which is located in the adorable French Market. Their menu features organic, gluten-free and vegan options. I ordered the okra gumbo and raw beets salad. With every bite I could taste the love.

Travelling is my number one passion in life. I always come back from my trips feeling blessed and excited from the new things I just experienced. To me, life is all about the experience.

Chic Blue & Yellow Outfit of the Day

If I had to choose just one style to wear on the daily I'd probably go with "casual chic". I'm a girlie girl at heart but I also totally looove to be comfy, who doesn't?! To me, the main difference between casual and casual chic is the shoe game. My strappy leopard print pumps give this indigo blue and mustard yellow outfit a sexy and sophisticated finish. Switch out these heels for some riding or combat boots and the look is all casual.

I've had this mustard yellow coat for about eight years. I remember buying it from an inexpensive boutique in the mall off of the clearance rack. I wasn't looking for a mustard yellow coat and obviously not very many others were either because this bad boy was only $7. Naturally I couldn't pass it up for that price. I figured that even if I only wore it a few times that it would be worth it. Looking back now, I'm beyond happy with my purchase. I wear this unique coat at least a few times a year and for whatever reason it always makes me smile when I put it on. Maybe because I feel like a super thrifty shopper when I wear it or maybe the yellow is just a contagious shade or cheerful. Either way, I love my little $7 coat that no one wanted!

My indigo blue Celine Mini Luggage Bag has single handedly sparked my latest obsession with all things blue! I find myself only wanting to buy blue clothes, jewelry and shoes. Then I have to slap myself and remember that I will look like a smurf if I only buy blue from here on out. With that in mind, my most recent fashion purchases have been blue or neutral. Hahaha. Baby steps people, I clearly have a problem!

I was really excited when I found these leopard printed heels! First of all, I thought they were super fab and since they were in the sale section I had to peak at the price. Twelve dollars!! I did a double take to make sure I read that correctly and then quickly tried them on the make sure they were at least somewhat comfortable. Double score. They were indeed $12 and they actually fit pretty darn good. I've always thought this kind of odd but some of my cheapest shoes are the most comfortable to wear. I got no shame rockin' a designer handbag and $12 shoes!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! I hope that you all are having a fabulous Valentine's Day full of love, happiness and lots and lots of chocolate. Valentine's Day is the perfect excuse to over indulge on chocolate to the point of almost puking and/or hating yourself. I try to avoid this scenario every year but like clock work I always manage to eat just one cupcake or one truffle too many! Some people never learn, do they?

Anyways, today I am bringing you this lovely outfit that I quite obviously planned for Valentine's Day. The kid in me has always wanted to do a shoot with balloons and viola! Cupid ain't got nothin' on me. I'm definitely feeling the love today. I'm also feeling pretty and chic in my white a-line dress.

The back of this dress is my favorite. I absolutely  love open backs or unexpected back details because it adds so much character to the outfit. It is always a plus when you can make a fabulous statement entering and exiting a room.

Valentine's Day Outfit

Shut up and Kiss me

This is my take on a casual chic Valentine's Day outfit. I can wear this outfit to the office, to lunch and then change into something a tad more elegant for dinner. I'm no stranger to an outfit change. I enjoy the process of choosing and wearing outfits. I've noticed that I address outfits for holidays the same way I  approach dressing up for themed parties. I spend way too much time obsessing over the perfect outfit and I always try to pay homage to the special day. I admit that I will find just about any excuse to play dress up and nothing constitutes playing dress up quite like themed parties and holidays. I think Kate Spade said it best when she said, "Dress up begins at age five and never truly ends."
